High Voltage Electrical Substation Design

Contributed to the engineering design and development of more than 80 high-voltage electrical substation projects for major electric utilities, including Austin Energy, Duke Energy, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), and other regional utility providers throughout the United States.

Prepared detailed engineering and CAD design documents supporting the construction, expansion, rehabilitation, and modernization of electrical substations serving transmission and distribution systems. Project responsibilities included the preparation of engineering drawings, equipment layouts, structural and electrical detailing, cable routing, grounding plans, control building layouts, and associated construction documentation in accordance with utility standards and engineering specifications.

Worked closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop accurate, constructible designs supporting improvements to the nation’s electrical infrastructure. Projects ranged from new greenfield substations to upgrades and expansions of existing facilities, requiring careful coordination of civil, structural, electrical, and protection system requirements.

This body of work contributed to the reliable delivery of electric power through modern transmission and distribution networks while supporting utility system growth, equipment replacement, and long-term infrastructure resilience.
